While the origin of Willie Mays’ “Say Hey” moniker is not quite definitive, it caught on fast and stuck. The offered novelty attests to Mays’ immense popularity at an early stage in his career. Marketed by Oliver Toys in 1954, this Willie Mays “Say Hey!” Baseball game pays homage to the Harlem great. In its original cardboard box (VG with creases and separation at the upper left corner), the game is complete with all of its original parts (which are described at length on our website).
Original parts include:
Playing Surface a thick stock sheet (EX-MT with normal compacting folds) with a colorful “diamond” design with adoring fans and “WILLIE MAYS” lining the outfield
Spinners (3) functioning spinners to respectively determine the actions of the pitcher, hitter and fielder. Minor rust on metal spinners
Player Pegs (4) round wooden pegs to represent baserunners
Scoresheets (2) unmarked scoring grids
