Description

Having tallied just forty career plate appearances for Connie Mack’s Philadelphia Athletics during the 1908 and 1909 campaigns, Joseph Jefferson Shoeless Joe Jackson later earned stardom and attracted controversy for the Chicago White Sox. Depicted in simpler times, the legendary batsman is the undisputed cornerstone of the 1909-11 E90-1 American Caramel set. Graded Authentic by SGC due to trimming along the top and bottom edges, the offered specimen is just one of (53) confirmed by the third-party service. The coveted rookie card further displays varying degrees of creasing along the bottom corners and through the torso directly beneath the team logo. The reverse is clean with uniform soiling throughout. As one of the more important caramel cards, this Philadelphia area release is “a must” for those pursuing the challenging E90-1 series.
